Description

Company Overview

SOLID (Solutions for Information Design, Inc.) is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned company committed to workforce development, credentialing, and innovative application design. For over two decades, SOLID has supported federal, commercial, and nonprofit clients—developing tools that empower career advancement and improve economic mobility.

We are trailblazers in supporting U.S. military service members and veterans, helping them translate their skills into civilian career opportunities. Our work includes the development of digital tools, policy analysis, and consulting services that bridge the gap between military experience and civilian credentials. We take pride in our collaborative, flexible, and family-friendly culture, ensuring our team has the support they need to thrive.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a passionate and results-driven Canvas System Administrator to join our collaborative and agile team. In this role, you will play a key part in leading the design, administration, and optimization of applications and workflows within the learning management system, Canvas by Instructure. In addition to Canvas, this role will provide support for a variety of business systems including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and other core platforms used across the organization. This is an ideal position for a systems-savvy generalist who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys improving how technology enables business operations.

This is a hands-on position where you’ll grow your skills and help elevate others—mentoring teammates and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain applications, workflows, and integrations within the Canvas by Instructure LMS to support operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for the Canvas by Instructure LMS platform, managing user access, data integrity, and system updates, to include understanding, recommending, and developing system enhancements for process automation, improvement, and efficiency.
  • Support and administer other business systems including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and other SaaS platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify process improvement opportunities and implement technology-based solutions.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, manage service requests, and liaise with vendors when necessary.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees from a systems-access standpoint.
  • Maintain system documentation, including configurations, workflows, and user guides.
  • Stay informed on emerging tools and best practices that could benefit the organization.
  • Follow governance best practices, maintain security and CMMC compliance, and inform process improvements.
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible for a Tier 3 (T3) background investigation for Position of Trust.
  • Experience administering Canvas (Instructure or similar platforms), including workflow design and automation.
  • Familiarity with business systems such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and cloud-based productivity tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to work across departments.
  • Self-starter mindset with the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier, etc.) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic scripting or low-code/no-code platform experience.
  • Experience working in a small or mid-sized organization with cross-functional responsibilities.
  • Exposure to system integration or data migration projects.
  • Experience troubleshooting or managing CANVAS to SQL integration via API.
  • Insights into CANVAS data normalization and business intelligence.
  • Prior exposure to any Azure or AWS DevOps processes.

This position is contingent upon a contract award.

Why Join SOLID? At SOLID, we offer more than just a job—we offer ownership. As a 100% employee-owned company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), every team member has a personal stake in our success and a voice in how we grow.

Benefits include:

  • 100% employee ownership through our ESOP
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous PTO policy with 11 paid holidays annually
  • Paid family leave for new parents
  • Access to 401(k) retirement plan
  • Monthly reimbursement for high-speed internet
  • Fully remote work with flexible scheduling
  • Sponsored professional development and training
  • A fun and inclusive culture with regular virtual team events

Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
