Job summary

North River Boats in Oregon is seeking a skilled canvas installer to join our production team. You will install boat tops, pattern and fit tops, and prepare boats for final assembly in a fast-paced shop environment.

This full-time role requires the ability to use electric, pneumatic and hand tools, communicate across shifts, and maintain a safe, high-quality work area. Overtime may be required to meet production goals.

• Bend bows for tops as instructed.
• Prepare boats for fitting of tops.
• Fit and install stern covers, tonneau covers, mooring covers, and backdrop curtains.
• Pattern tops and install.
• Properly operate all equipment relating to the canvas area.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Must use proper safety equipment for every specific task.
• Maintain a high level of quality.
• Communicate with leads and supervisors in the canvas department.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job description

Work hours: 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday

Friday - Overtime as needed to meet production goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install completed tops on boats
• Bend bows for tops as instructed
• Prepare boats for fitting of tops.
• Fit and install stern covers, tonneau covers, mooring covers, and backdrop curtains
• Fit tops to welded removable top frames
• Pattern tops and install
• Properly operate all equipment relating to the canvas area
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Must use proper safety equipment for every specific task
• Maintain a high level of quality
• Work to maintain a productive and positive work environment by proactively communicating with your lead and other leads/supervisors in the canvas department
• Perform all other duties as assigned and appropriate to position

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a good working knowledge of North River manufacturing process
• Must have good working knowledge of the different models of boat tops and the components of each as well as how they are assembled
• Must be familiar with the workings of all electric, pneumatic, and hand tools
• Must have all required hand tools per tool list
• Must be able to communicate with all levels of personnel
• Must come to work with a good attitude and be a team player
• Must maintain an above average attendance record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Lift up to 50 lbs

Stand, walk, kneel, crawl and crouch inside tight boat spaces throughout a 10‑hour day
