Job summary

Correction Enterprises in Nash County, NC, seeks an Accounting Technician I to support Nash Correctional Institution’s canteen operations. You will manage inventory, maintain financial records, and ensure compliance with NCFS and audits.

This is a full-time role with regular hours, offering collaboration with Trust Fund Accounting and prison administration. A solid accounting background and Excel proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution.
• HS diploma or GED with two years accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage Canteen inventory and reconcile discrepancies in NCFS.
• Maintain inventory records for offender stamps (local and international).
• Prepare monthly Canteen Inventory Reports with vendor invoices and variances.
• Maintain organized financial, inventory, and audit documentation for internal/external reviews.
• Coordinate with Trust Fund Accounting for vendor payments and monthly deadlines.
• Oversee movement of supplies into the prison store and distribution of goods.
• Hire, schedule, train, and supervise incarcerated workers in canteen operations.
• Process and issue Canteen refunds following procedures.
• Prepare Fixed Asset Reports and submit to Raleigh as required.
