Job summary

Wyoming State Penitentiary is seeking a Canteen Assistant (Office Assistant II) to oversee the daily commissary operations. This role handles inventory, processes inmate orders, and maintains secure cashless transactions under strict security standards.

The position requires an eye for detail, the ability to manage pick lists, and the capacity to work within a correctional facility. Training is provided as part of a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Experience: Acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant I.
• OR Education & Experience Substitution: 1-2 years in retail, warehousing, shipping/receiving, or inventory management; prior experience in criminal justice, security, or an institutional setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently composes and types correspondence related to the assigned office/ program area.
• Reviews incoming correspondence; initiates reply as appropriate; routes matters requiring action by staff; follows up to ensure actions are completed.
• Order Fulfillment and Distribution: Accurately pull, pack, and verify pre-ordered food, personal hygiene, stationery, and approved electronic items based on pick lists.
