Job summary

The Cannabist Company, formerly Columbia Care, seeks a Lead Retail Associate (Shift Lead) to support store leadership, coach teammates, and drive a high‑quality customer experience in a fast-paced cannabis retail setting.

You will supervise daily operations, ensure inventory accuracy, and mentor staff while maintaining compliance with regulations and company SOPs. This role emphasizes teamwork, product knowledge, and sales-driven performance.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• 3+ years of retail or customer service experience.
• Experience with cash handling and POS systems.
• Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Strong collaboration and the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
• Ability to coach and influence others.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support store leadership in achieving sales goals and business growth.
• Lead by example and promote a service-minded retail environment.
• Demonstrate cannabis product knowledge and guide customers for a positive experience.
• Open/close the store and assign tasks to meet business demands.
• Train the retail team on tasks including customer intake, sales, inventory, and POS transactions.
• Provide coaching in the moment and escalate issues to leadership as needed.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and regulations; report issues promptly.
• Assist with inventory management and audits; support month/quarter/year-end processes.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and share findings with leadership.
