Job summary

MD Anderson in Houston is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support cancer care, research and education within the Procedural and Therapeutics division. You will prepare procedure rooms, transport patients, and coordinate with multiple teams including Surgery, Radiation Oncology and Anesthesiology.

The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, and communicate empathetically with patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Prior procedural or PACU experience preferred.
• CNA certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares rooms for procedures.
• Transports patients safely to and from assigned area using stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Enters patient transportation requests into Epic and monitor the status.
• Participates in inventory management and expiration management.
• Stocks procedure rooms and recovery bays with supplies and lines.
• Picks up supplies from materials management.
• Makes end of day patient reminder calls and post-up calls.
• Communicates within and among team members in a healthy, constructive way.
