Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston seeks a Patient Care Technician to support procedural and therapeutic activities in oncology care. The role emphasizes safe, compassionate interactions with patients, families, and coworkers.

The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, and demonstrate exceptional communication and customer service skills. Prior PACU or procedural experience and CNA certification are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares rooms for procedures.
• Transports patients safely to and from assigned area using stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Enter patient transportation requests into Epic and monitor the status.
• Participates in inventory management and expiration management.
• Stocks procedure rooms and recovery bays with supplies and lines.
• Picks up supplies from materials management.
• Makes end of day patient reminder calls and post-up calls.
• Communicates within and among team members in a healthy, constructive way.

Job description

Seeking a Patient Care Technician to join one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.

The Procedural and Therapeutics division is comprised of several operational areas that provide therapeutic or procedural-based support for oncology care rooted in safe, high-quality practice. We work hand-in-hand with multiple divisions across the institution, including Surgery; Radiation Oncology; Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, Internal Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging.

The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, and demonstrate exceptional communication and customer service skills ensuring every interaction with patients, families, and coworkers reflects compassion and respect. Prior procedural or PACU experience is preferred. CNA certification is preferred but not required.

The shift will be Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.

Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
