Job description

Canadian Payroll Implementation Consultant

This role can be based anywhere in the US with a planned start date of November 2025, but you’ll need to be able to work Eastern Time hours to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Base pay range: $65,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr

At PSI Payroll Services Inc. (PSI), part of the global IRIS Software Group, we deliver boutique, high-touch payroll services trusted by businesses across North America. Our clients rely on us to manage one of their most critical functions - making sure their people are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance.

The very first impression our clients have of PSI comes from Implementation. That’s where you come in.

As a Senior Payroll Implementation Advisor, you’ll lead the onboarding of Canadian clients, ensuring their payroll is set up seamlessly and compliantly across multiple provinces. You’ll provide expert guidance, configure payroll systems, and walk clients through testing and their first live payroll runs. Your work ensures PSI delivers on its promise of accuracy, trust, and confidence from day one.

This isn’t just payroll setup - it’s about building relationships, ensuring compliance, and shaping the client’s long-term experience with PSI and IRIS.

Why This Role Matters

  • Direct client impact – You are the first person new Canadian clients rely on to make payroll work for them.
  • Compliance expertise – Payroll rules in Canada vary across provinces. Your knowledge ensures every setup is correct and compliant.
  • Strategic importance – A smooth implementation sets the foundation for years of client trust and satisfaction.
  • Career growth – As part of IRIS, one of the UK’s largest privately-owned software companies scaling across North America, you’ll have opportunities to grow your expertise and career in a global organization.

About the Team You'll Join

Our Implementation Team is the bridge between sales and operations. We configure payrolls, validate data, and support clients through their first live runs before handing them over to our Operations team. You’ll work with colleagues who share your commitment to precision and client care, all while making sure each new client’s first PSI experience is a positive one.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as the primary contact for new Canadian clients, guiding them through discovery, gap analysis, and solution design.
  • Configure payroll systems for Canadian businesses, ensuring all company data, employee details, and year-to-date values are accurate.
  • Guide clients through testing, validation, and their first live payroll run.
  • Personally process payrolls during the transition period until they’re ready for handover.
  • Train clients on payroll processes and reporting, ensuring they feel confident and supported.
  • Assess the complexity of each new client payroll for proper distribution of workload.
  • Recommend process improvements and provide feedback to the Head of Implementation.
  • Support audit development, year-end processes (T4s, RL-1s, ROEs), and special projects.

What We’re Looking For

This is a senior role that requires both technical payroll knowledge and excellent client service skills. You’ll need:

  • Significant experience in Canadian payroll, across multiple provinces.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification (required).
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification (desired).
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll compliance, tax laws, and employment standards.
  • Experience with year-end reporting (T4s, RL-1s, ROEs).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients at once.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Clear and professional communication skills — written and verbal.
  • Analytical ability and experience conducting root cause analysis.
  • A customer-first mindset: patient, approachable, and committed to building client confidence.
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.

What You’ll Gain

  • Impact from day one – You’ll play a vital role in shaping client experiences and ensuring payroll success.
  • Professional development – Opportunities to advance your career within IRIS, a global payroll and HR services leader.
  • Specialist expertise – Build deeper knowledge of Canadian payroll complexities across multiple provinces.
  • A collaborative team culture – Work alongside supportive colleagues who share your passion for accuracy and client care.
  • Competitive salary and benefits – Be recognized and rewarded for the importance of the work you do.

Our Application Process

We keep things clear and supportive:

  • Send us your CV and details of your Canadian payroll experience.
  • A chat with our Talent team.
  • Two short assessments:
  • CCAT (15-minute timed test).

Meet the Implementation team, learn about the role in detail, and see what it’s like to be part of PSI and IRIS.

If you’re an experienced Canadian payroll professional with the skills to guide clients through seamless implementations, we’d love to hear from you. Join PSI Payroll Services Inc. and play a critical role in helping businesses and their people thrive.
