Job summary

Roxbury Community College is seeking three part-time Peer Wellness Mentors for on-campus placement. Mentors support student well-being through active listening, resource navigation, and community-building activities while maintaining confidentiality.

The role emphasizes non-clinical support, trauma-informed practices, and collaboration with Wellness Center staff to promote health and academic success for RCC students.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the designated Wellness/Peer Wellness cohort prior to placement.
• Currently enrolled RCC student in good standing and eligible for the approved Federal Work-Study placement.
• Strong verbal communication, empathy, active-listening, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and appropriate discretion.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Demonstrated readiness to provide non-clinical peer support and resource navigation within the established scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate a culture of care, connection, and well-being through peer support and active listening.
• Co-facilitate affinity spaces, wellness workshops, and community-building activities.
• Host peer accountability hours to help students organize schedules and goals.
• Provide non-clinical peer support and resource navigation within scope.
• Refer students to campus wellness, counseling, academic and support services as needed.
• Assist with wellness programming, outreach, and data entry.
