Job summary

The University of Virginia's Energy and Utilities division seeks a Utilities Supervisor to oversee daily operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's extensive utility network, including steam, heating, cooling, water distribution, and electrical systems across the campus.

Requirements include four years in piping installations and two years in supervisory roles, a valid driver's license, and ability to lead crews and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Four years of advanced experience in piping installations.
• Two years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Background checks completed before employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate subordinates to ensure performance.
• Schedule personnel to meet job requirements cost-effectively.
• Establish productivity targets and monitor progress.
• Supervise assigned duties within allocated time.
• Oversee training needs of subordinates to meet skill expectations.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of utility systems.
• Coordinate availability of team members for emergencies (24-hour coverage).
• Review maintenance work, budgets, and project schedules.
• Ensure compliance with codes, safety standards, OSHA and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
