Job summary

The University System of New Hampshire in Durham is seeking a Utilities Distribution Systems Operator to manage operation, inspection, and maintenance of campus utility networks including potable water, heating, steam, and wastewater.

You will oversee Distribution Technicians, coordinate emergency repairs, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and contribute to asset management and capital projects.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in utility distribution or related trades.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of applicable codes/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, maintain, repair, install, and troubleshoot campus utility distribution systems.
• Inspect and maintain underground tunnels, trenches, valve pits, and lift stations.
• Lead emergency repairs and coordinate with emergency services.
• Oversee technicians and contractors in daily operations.
• Assist with recruitment, hiring, and training within the department.
• Coordinate and oversee outside contractors for installations and upgrades.
• Support budgeting, procurement, and inventory for maintenance.
