Job summary

Deerfield Academy is seeking a Traffic and Parking Control Attendant to assist with event security and campus access by directing moving traffic and guiding cars to parking areas.

The role emphasizes customer service, clear communication, and the ability to perform several tasks under pressure in a busy campus environment. Attention to safety, adherence to policies, and teamwork with the Safety & Security team are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of 12 grade or equivalent.
• 1-3 years’ experience in a customer service role.
• Working knowledge and previous experience parking and directing vehicles.
• Strong customer service acumen with the ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to observe, assess, and record hazardous conditions in parking areas/structures.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Mentally capable of performing multiple tasks under stressful situations.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Manages and directs vehicle and foot traffic for academy events, to ensure safe access to parking areas;
• Provides parking assistance and information to employees, students, and visitors, including responding to inquiries and providing directions to campus locations
• Perform traffic control duties such as setting up cones or placing temporary signs in a specific area.
• Responds to questions and concerns from visitors, students, employees and the general public;
• May operate a motor vehicle to patrol, transport employees, students, visitors, or others as necessary;
• Works closely with Safety & Security Officers to ensure effective coordination of service efforts through two-way radio communication
• Comply with all Deerfield policies and procedures and those of the Department of Campus Safety & Security
• Other duties as assigned
