Job summary

Frederick Community College is seeking a Peer Mentor to support the Student Success Programs cohort, offering a peer perspective and connections to campus resources. This on-site role is part-time and limited to FCC students.

The Peer Mentor will meet regularly with cohort members, assist with projects, support front desk operations, and help communicate with new students and families. Flexible schedule up to 20 hours/week.

Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled FCC student involved in a cohort program.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and community via face-to-face, email, and phone.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Knowledge of campus resources and campus processes.
  • Working knowledge of the structure and functions of Student Success Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Meets regularly with cohort program members to provide a peer perspective and connect to campus resources.
  • Assist with special projects (materials, spreadsheets, event setup).
  • Provide front desk coverage: phones, messages, emails for the Office.
  • Offer a welcoming atmosphere for faculty, staff, students, families, and visitors.
  • Assist students/visitors with general information.
  • Assist with communications for new students and families via email, phone, etc.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective cohort program members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
