Job summary

SAE Institute North America in Chicago is seeking a Student Advisor to support student success on campus. You will advise students, monitor attendance, and partner with the Registrar to assist SAP progress, while advocating for student retention.

This full-time, on-site role requires coordinating with campus staff, assisting with orientation and student events, and guiding students through academic planning and re-entry processes. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher and two years of experience in a higher education environment with a student advising function.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of academic student record keeping in higher education.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and students.
• Ability to work with diverse constituencies and collaborate across the organization.
• Demonstrates initiative and adaptability in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Track student attendance and contact absent students after two consecutive days of non-attendance.
• Monitor high risk students and provide academic support and planning.
• Meet regularly with the Student Success Manager or Campus Director of Education.
• Coordinate with staff to review student progress and support SAP processes.
• Assist with academic coaching and individual action plans for students.
• Support re-entry and SAP appeal processes.
• Assist with planning and execution of student events, orientations, and clubs.
• Collaborate with campus leadership to improve student services.
• Comply with SAE policies and procedures.
