Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a Temporary Campus Store Team Member to help deliver an exceptional retail experience during peak periods. You will greet customers, guide them to materials, operate the register, and maintain an organized, stocked store floor.

Responsibilities include assisting with inventory, processing orders, and staying informed on merchandise and store services to confidently answer questions. The role supports daily store operations with a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age (minimum age in California locations is 18).
• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and teammates.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Flexible schedule throughout the temporary assignment based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an exceptional customer experience by greeting customers, answering questions, and providing friendly, knowledgeable service.
• Assist customers in locating course materials, school supplies, apparel, gifts, convenience items, and other merchandise that best meets their needs.
• Operate the point-of-sale system to accurately process transactions, including cash, credit, and financial aid purchases.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor through merchandising, replenishment, recovery, and housekeeping.
• Support daily store operations by assisting with inventory, receiving merchandise, order fulfillment, and other operational tasks to keep the store customer-ready.
• Develop product knowledge by staying informed about merchandise, promotions, store services, and course materials to confidently assist customers.
• Work collaboratively with teammates to accomplish daily priorities while adapting to changing business needs in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Contribute to a clean, safe, and organized store environment that reflects the Barnes & Noble College brand and delivers an exceptional customer experience.
