WESTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY - CATERING is seeking a Sous Chef (Full Time) to support the Executive Chef, coordinate kitchen activities, and lead food-service staff on site in Bellingham, WA. This role requires prior culinary and supervisory experience and offers a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in culinary positions, with exposure to various cuisines and techniques that support a lead role.
• Supervisory and Sous Chef role experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, and reviews.
• Stores food according to food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils, and cleans workstation before leaving area.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and explains them to associates and customers.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries, tracks production and waste, informs supervisor when supplies are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
