Job summary

Compass Group USA in Seaside, California is currently seeking a full-time Sous Chef. This role involves supporting the Executive Chef, coordinating cooks and food-service staff, and ensuring adherence to recipes and safety standards.

The position requires strong leadership, inventory control, and allergen knowledge, with a schedule Wednesday through Sunday and varying shifts. The successful candidate will supervise staff, manage ordering and production timelines, and maintain high-quality food

Qualifications

Must have prior experience in ordering, inventory, recipe adherence, staff management, and allergen knowledge.
Line cook experience is required to supervise kitchen staff and ensure standards.

Responsibilities

Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
Supervises hourly food service associates, including scheduling, payroll, training, and performance reviews.
Stores food according to safety and sanitation procedures.
Ensures proper food handling, portion control and serving temperatures.
Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils and keeps work areas clean.
Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Explains daily menu items to associates and customers.
Monitors peak production and service hours; supports inventory and deliveries.
Performs other duties as assigned.
