Union College seeks a Senior Campus Sous Chef to help shape daily dining for students, faculty, staff, and guests. You will partner with the Executive Chef to lead operations across residential dining and campus events, upholding high standards of quality, hospitality, and efficiency.

This hands‑on role emphasizes mentoring teams, supporting culinary innovation, and delivering memorable experiences in a fast‑paced, community‑focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a culinary leadership role within higher education or high‑volume dining.
• Passion for delivering high‑quality food and guest experiences.
• Ability to lead and develop teams in a fast‑paced setting.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, inventory and cost‑control practices.

Responsibilities

• Support the Executive Chef in daily culinary operations, ensuring quality, execution and presentation.
• Lead, coach and develop culinary team members while fostering a collaborative kitchen culture.
• Assist with menu planning, recipe development and seasonal, wellness‑focused options.
• Oversee food preparation and production for consistency and efficiency.
• Support catering and events, delivering hospitality across campus.
• Assist with inventory management, purchasing and cost‑effective operations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP and workplace safety standards.
• Collaborate with dining leadership to enhance guest experience and respond to feedback.
• Serve as an operational leader in the absence of the Executive Chef.
