Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a Salaried Sous Chef I at Elmhurst University, IL. This role supports culinary operations for a student dining location, supervising staff and coordinating with Executive Chefs on menu development and execution.

The position requires strong culinary/kitchen management skills, cost control experience, and the ability to work a Sunday-Thursday 12:30pm-9:00pm shift with additional hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-volume, campus dining or food service operations helpful.
• Culinary/kitchen management experience required.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cost controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist dining team with managing cost controls and expenditures for the account.
• Assist the Executive Chef and culinary team with planning and creating menus.
• Foster strong client relationships to align programs with objectives, driving satisfaction and retention.
• Perform other duties to support dining service operations including inventory management and ordering.
