Job summary

Colby College is seeking a Social Media Content Creator to bring the College’s brand to life through dynamic social media content and close collaboration with Multimedia and Editorial teams.

You will conceptualize, shoot, edit, and publish high-quality content across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms while engaging the Colby community and highlighting campus life.

Qualifications

• The candidate has 2+ years of professional digital content creation for a brand, agency, or publication.
• A portfolio or reel showing short-form video and storytelling success.
• Proficiency with mobile/DSLR shooting and video editing software.
• Strong understanding of current social platforms and basic design.
• Ability to interpret metrics and apply data to content strategy.
• Excellent organizational and cross-department collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Video & asset production: conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit short-form video and images daily.
• Campus storytelling: interview and feature students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
• Copywriting: write captions, scripts, headlines, and CTAs aligned with brand.
• Standards & compliance: ensure assets meet brand, accessibility, privacy, copyright rules.
• Special projects: manage newsletters and supervise student content workers.
• Strategy & scheduling: lead posting across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, X/Twitter, Facebook.
• Cross-functional alignment: partner with communications team on priorities.
• Trend adaptation: monitor trends and keep content relevant with new formats.
• Audience engagement: respond to comments and DMs to build community.
• Analytics & reporting: track reach and engagement; provide campaign insights.
• Crisis & reputation: flag potential issues to leadership promptly.
