Job summary

KU Memorial Unions is seeking a Social Media Intern to create engaging digital content and copy for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. You will attend campus events, craft captions and emails, and help grow our online presence while collaborating with the marketing team on timely campaigns.

The role requires strong writing skills, camera comfort, and knowledge of trends. Part-time hours; pay starts at $12.00/hour with final rate based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication; tailor messages to audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills for campus engagement.
• Proficient with Instagram and TikTok; awareness of trends.
• Comfort on camera; willing to participate in video content.
• Experience in copywriting and content editing.
• Experience interviewing street-style or professional settings.
• Knowledge of strategies to grow following and engagement.

Responsibilities

• Create Social Media Content: Film, photograph, edit, and create engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
• Write Engaging Copy: Create social media captions, email content, event descriptions, and other marketing copy.
• Engage with the Campus Community: Attend campus events, some evenings and weekends, to support outreach.
• Provide live social media coverage of events when appropriate.
• Support Email Marketing: Create engaging email content for students, faculty, parents, and others.
• Support Social Media Growth: Develop ideas to grow audiences and strengthen digital presence.
• Edit Digital Content: Edit Reels, TikToks, photos for platforms.
• Stay Current on Campus Trends: Identify timely content opportunities.
• Manage Projects: Use Asana to organize daily assignments and priorities.
