Job summary

Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago is seeking a Security Guard to provide basic security services under supervision, ensuring compliance with laws and university regulations.

Duties include patrolling offices and open spaces, monitoring access, reporting incidents, and performing related tasks. Work hours are 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., on-site; salary range $17.00-$18.00 per hour, with benefits through state programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid/current Illinois driver's license.
• No record of felony, or crime involving moral turpitude.

Responsibilities

• Patrols offices, classrooms, open spaces, and other areas of campus to prevent theft or damage to property, equipment, tools and supplies.
• Patrols the inner perimeter of the campus to check breaches in physical security controls such as locks, fences, gates or other barriers.
• Controls personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas and refer persons who lack proper credentials to a control point to arrange access.
• Reporting all events that aggressive patrol has identified and all actions taken subsequently by the security guard.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
