Job summary

Erie Community College is seeking a part-time Building Guard at the North Campus in Williamsville. The guard will control access, direct visitors, and maintain order to safeguard employees and property in a campus setting.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with cybersecurity/physical security basics, plus eligible NYS Security Guard registration. The position participates in NY HELPS and reports to College Safety & Security.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with one year of college training in Criminal Justice or one year security experience
• Six months of security experience also qualifies
• Equivalent combination of training and experience can satisfy minimum qualifications
• Criminal background check and NYS Security Guard registration required before hire
• Official transcripts due within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Control access to buildings and property
• Maintain order and remove disorderly persons when needed
• Prevent trespass, loitering, theft, and property damage
• Direct visitors and provide information as needed
• Inspect packages and parcels
• Summon authorities when necessary
• Check time clocks and manage traffic/parking
