Job summary

The Frances Xavier Warde School in Chicago is seeking a part-time Security Officer to protect students, staff, and visitors on campus. The role requires on-site presence, patrols, and proactive security measures to maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring access, logging visitors, coordinating with emergency services, and assisting with events and daily operations. Candidates must meet basic education requirements and be prepared for evening/ weekend coverage.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned campus buildings and perimeters on foot to prevent trespass.
• May maintain a post at the main entrance or other designated areas.
• Prevents unauthorized visitors from entering buildings or loitering.
• Provides a security presence and maintains visitor logs.
• Inform supervisors of incidents and coordinate with police/fire departments.
• Assess individuals’ business on school property and respond accordingly.
• Escort visitors to/from areas as needed.
• Conduct security inspections of facilities.
• Assist with traffic control and student drop-off/pick-up for safe flow.
• Provide security for school and Archdiocese events as needed.
• Assist administrators in emergencies, disciplinary matters, and investigations.
• Escort students to/from designated locations, on foot or by bus.
• Monitor security cameras if applicable.
• Maintain familiarity with FXW Emergency Action Plan.
• Use force only under defined circumstances and follow policy/IROCC rules.
• Prepare incident reports.
• Use software tools (spreadsheet, word processing, calendar, email, database).
• Assist FXW Facilities Manager and other security staff as needed.
• Support emergency responders when on campus.
