Job summary

Husson University is seeking a uniformed Safety and Security Officer who will also perform dispatcher duties. Officers patrol on foot and in university vehicles, monitor CCTV and radio communications, and provide customer service to students, staff and visitors on campus.

The role emphasizes enforcing campus rules, responding to incidents, coordinating with law enforcement, and maintaining safety across facilities.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• At least 6 months of security, military, or law enforcement experience is preferred.
• Must have attention to detail and respond promptly and professionally when necessary.
• Be able to prioritize, organize, and follow up when needed.
• Have a clear command of the English language and be able to complete computer-generated reports.
• Be a clear thinker, display the ability to remain calm, and show good judgment when resolving problems.
• Follow directions thoroughly, speak and interact with students, staff and visitors as necessary.
• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain confidentiality of departmental and University information

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, courteous services to students, staff and visitors.
• Work full-time schedule, evenings, or overnights, including weekends and holidays as necessary.
• Attend and/or complete all departmental and University training requirements including CPR/AED certification.
• Maintain knowledge of policies & procedures and equipment.
• Perform lead Security Officer duties in the absence of a supervisor.
• Monitor safety systems and emergencies and coordinate with local authorities as needed.
• Escort and remove individuals from campus when necessary.
• Investigate suspicious activity and document incidents.
• Write reports documenting incidents and investigations.
