Husson University is seeking a Per Diem Safety and Security Officer responsible for the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role includes patrolling, incident response, customer service, and enforcing regulations.
The ideal candidate must have a high school education and preferably some security or law enforcement experience. This part-time role requires flexibility, as work includes evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
The successful candidate will perform the duties of a uniformed Per Diem Safety and Security Officer, as well as the duties of a dispatcher. Campus Security Officers are responsible for the comfort, safety, and security of the students, faculty, staff, and visitors to Husson University. Security Officers maintain a safe environment and minimize the potential for loss or damage of all property controlled by Husson University by conducting high visibility patrols on foot and in University-owned vehicles, monitoring CCTV equipment, and monitoring radio communications. Officers provide a wide variety of services to our campus community, and are expected to proactively seek opportunities to provide excellent customer service. Security Officers enforce Husson University rules and regulations, the Community Conduct Code, and coordinate with law enforcement in enforcing state statutes. Security Officers recognize potential safety concerns and take measures to mitigate these concerns. Security Officers respond to disturbances and mitigate disruptive conduct, respond to emergencies as needed, and coordinate with all local, county, and state agencies as necessary to maintain the safety of Husson University. Security Officers may serve in a dispatch role, facilitating communication with officers, directing them to respond to requests for service, and providing pertinent information necessary to maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to Husson University. Security Officers also coordinate with all local, county, and state agencies as necessary to maintain the safety of the Campus.
High school education or equivalent required. At least 6 months of security, military, or law enforcement experience is preferred.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, talk, hear, operate foot controls on automobiles and golf carts, climb stairs and use hands and fingers, and/or feel. The employee is also required to occasionally run, balance, crawl, climb, and use ladders (up to 20 feet in height), as well as push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds. The employee must also exert physical effort including foot patrol and restraint of individuals as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
