Qualifications

Job description

Campus Security Guards

Pay Rate: $15.38/hour

Available Shifts: To be determined based on need. Potential shifts can include but are not limited to: weekday first shift (7 am-3 pm), weekday second shift (3 pm-11 pm), and weekend shifts (7 am-7 pm).

Job Summary:

Work performed in general security work. The Security staff is responsible for assisting campus police in providing safety and security to the campus community.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Patrol areas on the campus by foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle to prevent and report crime.
  2. Provide security for special events as required.
  3. May testify in court and legal proceedings.
  4. Maintain and utilize issued equipment.
  5. Keep records and prepare reports for supervisors.
  6. Maintain student, faculty, and staff safety at all times.
  7. Check campus buildings for safety and maintenance issues.
  8. Check campus rooms and buildings for safety and property.
  9. Keep duty and activity log.
  10. Assist in community programs.
  11. Perform other related duties as required, including related clerical tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Be at least 18 years of age. Pass background check. Have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics:

  1. Knowledge of Campus policies.
  2. Knowledge of physical campus.
  3. Knowledge of the principles and practices of security.
  4. Knowledge of campus and local area provisions for emergency situations.
  5. Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and determine the proper course of action.
  6. Ability to operate equipment as necessary in the performance of required duties.
  7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, faculty, staff, the public, and other community members.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Working conditions will vary. Work will require indoor and outside work in all types of weather in uniform.
