Job summary

William & Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester Point seeks a Security Guard to protect staff, students, visitors, and property. The role performs patrols, monitors access, and responds to alarms to maintain a safe campus environment.

This hourly pool position requires flexibility for evenings/weekends, with duties across events and after-hours operations. A valid driver's license and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience in security or related field preferred.
• Ability to follow procedures and report incidents.

Responsibilities

• Monitor campus buildings and grounds to ensure safety and report suspicious activity.
• Conduct routine inspections and patrol designated areas.
• Support building security with routine locking/unlocking of buildings and rooms.
• Provide escort services and assist with parking enforcement and events.
• Respond to fire alarms and other security-related needs and maintain posts.
