Job summary

Monroe County Community College in Michigan seeks a Safety Services Staff member to help maintain a safe campus for students, staff, faculty and visitors. You will patrol on foot and by vehicle, enforce campus rules, respond to incidents, and assist with access control and security systems.

The role requires strong communication, readiness for emergencies, and the ability to work variable shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; police academy training certificate or transcript; or an Associate’s degree.
• Five or more years of experience in law enforcement, criminal justice or security enforcement.
• Concealed Pistol License or certified to carry a firearm (Certified Law Enforcement Officer).
• Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License.
• Occasional weekend and evening work to oversee three shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provides campus security to ensure safety for students, staff, visitors and property; responds to needs and requirements.
• Promotes a positive image by giving directions and information about campus locations, facilities and activities.
• Regularly travels assigned areas, enforces rules, reports violations, checks doors and locks, and secures buildings.
• Assists with key distribution, access control, power panel troubleshooting, surveillance monitoring, and ID card production.
• Enforces campus policies and procedures related to safety and security.
• Maintains logs; conducts area checks; inspects fire extinguishers; corrects issues or reports for correction.
• Enforces campus parking regulations and prepares事故 reports on-campus incidents.
• Responds to incidents of crime; documents incidents; assists with CLERY report input; provides information to victims.
• Escorts staff with cash deposits; directs emergency response to scenes; performs first aid as needed.
• In emergencies, directs fire, medical, or law enforcement to the scene and coordinates with appropriate authorities.
• Responds to weather, hazardous materials, medical and security emergencies, and evacuations to protect lives and property.
• Stores and maintains lost property logs; disposes of abandoned items per procedures.
• Contributes to a culture of respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Maintains competency through training and professional development as required.
• Adheres to Safety Services policies and procedures.
