Job summary

Washington County Community College in Maine seeks a dedicated Campus Safety & Security Officer to patrol the campus, monitor security systems, and maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The position requires an associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field, up to two years in law enforcement or campus safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Salary is hourly with shift evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field.
• Up to two years of experience in law enforcement, campus safety, security, or related public safety field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other standard computer applications.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus buildings and grounds to maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor security systems, secure facilities, and complete daily activity and incident reports.
• Conduct inspections and monthly audits of campus facilities.
• Provide escorts after hours and coordinate with local police and fire authorities as needed.
• Respond to violations and disturbances, de-escalate conflicts, and handle emergencies.
• Assist with security at special events and participate in the College Safety Committee.
