Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• SSO certification through VA DCJS or obtain certification within 60 days of hire (SCPS offers and pays for the course).
• Valid Virginia driver's license and satisfactory DMV background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating a safe and conducive learning environment.
• Patrol parking lots, halls, cafeteria, rest rooms, remote areas and school grounds to assure safety and security, including checking students leaving, parking permits and preventing unauthorized entry.
• Direct and control traffic on/off Stafford County Public School property.
• Check windows, doors and entrances to ensure security and fire code compliance.
• Investigate and report unusual conditions or disturbances to school officials and assist with incidents of vandalism or violence as required.
• Attend safety and security meetings and participate in safety audits; represent the school system in court cases when required.
• Record activities on the assigned shift in the daily logbook with clear incident documentation for potential litigation.
