Job summary

Saginaw Township Community Schools is seeking a dedicated Campus Security Officer for Heritage High School. This full-time on-site role focuses on safety for students, staff and visitors, with a 185-day school year and a 7am–3pm shift, Monday to Friday.

Strong communication and proactive safety mindset are essential to maintaining a secure educational environment. The position requires a high school diploma, security experience preferred, and background/drug screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; security or law enforcement training is a plus.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Strong observational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
• Background check and drug screening required.
• Physical ability to perform duties, including walking, standing, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol school grounds, buildings, and parking areas to ensure safety and security.
• Respond to emergencies, incidents, and alarms, providing immediate assistance as needed.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address potential security risks.
• Collaborate with school administration and staff to develop and implement safety protocols.
• Assist in the enforcement of school policies and regulations, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all.
• Provide support during school events and activities, ensuring security measures are in place.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, daily activities, and security reports.
• Engage with students, staff, and parents to foster a sense of community and promote safety awareness.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in school security.
