Job summary

Saginaw Township Community Schools is seeking a part-time high school basketball coach for Heritage High School Athletics in mid-M Michigan. The role focuses on developing players through structured practices, game planning, and performance feedback.

You will lead JV program activities, coordinate transportation, and work closely with athletes, families, and administrators to ensure a positive, safety-first experience.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching at high school level or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication with athletes, parents, and staff.
• Ability to organize practices, games, and transportation.
• Ability to motivate student-athletes to excel on and off the court.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, and training programs.
• Conduct regular practices to improve athletes' skills and understanding of the game.
• Organize and oversee the JV basketball program, including scheduling games and transportation.
• Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing feedback and support.
• Foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork.
• Communicate with athletes, parents, and school administration about progress.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and athletic regulations.
• Collaborate with coaches and staff to promote program success.
• Attend meetings, workshops, and training to stay updated on coaching techniques.
