Job summary

Vanderbilt University Public Safety is seeking a Safety and Security Manager to lead a security unit on the Vanderbilt campus and medical center, optimize staffing, and ensure high standards of safety and accountability.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field and at least five years of management experience in law enforcement or security, plus relevant certifications and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business Management, or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in law enforcement or similar security setting.
• Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory record; CPR/AED training; Community Service Officer training; knowledge of university and police directives.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical leadership for a designated security unit; optimize staffing, resources, and performance; manage shift schedules and audits.
• Oversee training of staff; administer personnel records, payroll, leave; conduct evaluations; coach and mentor team; participate in recruitment.
• Oversee service oriented operations; ensure timely emergency response; supervise security checks, patrols, escorts; manage secure transport services.
