Job summary

Vanderbilt University Public Safety (VUPS) seeks a Safety and Security Supervisor to lead a patrol/unit, supervise Weapons Detection Specialists, CSOs, and Security Specialists, and ensure resource readiness.

The role requires 3+ years in security with supervisory experience, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage shift schedules and performance. Night/weekend work and background checks are standard requirements for this position.

Qualifications

• Must have supervisory experience in a security environment.
• Strong communication and conduct qualitative investigations when needed.
• Proven ability to train staff and manage performance conversations.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned unit/shift and supervise safety staff.
• Train and evaluate staff on security protocols and weapons systems.
• Maintain shift schedules, review timesheets, and manage leave requests.
• Coordinate with management on reports and incidents.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and university directives.
• Oversee security for events and special functions.
