Job summary

Juniata College seeks a collaborative and experienced Director of Public Safety to provide strategic and operational leadership for campus safety and security. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students, the Director will lead Public Safety personnel and operations while partnering with campus and local agencies.

The role requires managing daily operations, developing policies, and serving as Clery compliance officer.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in criminal justice, social work, student affairs, or a related field; advanced study or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations, staffing, training, supervision, and development of Public Safety personnel for a 24/7 campus operation.
• Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures for campus safety, security, emergency preparedness, and crime prevention.
• Serve as the Colleges Clery compliance officer, overseeing crime reporting and CSA training.
• Coordinate emergency communications and emergency operations with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and dispatch agencies.
• Partner with Student Life on student conduct, crisis response, investigations, and after-hours emergencies.
• Plan security and emergency response for campus events and provide safety training and education.
• Foster trauma-informed responses and build partnerships with victim advocacy services.
• Develop and manage the Public Safety budget and ensure stewardship of departmental resources.
• Oversee communications, reporting, records, crime statistics, policies, and compliance documents.
