Job summary

Kean University in Jersey City is seeking a Director of Operations for the Department of Public Safety. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, this role provides leadership and operational oversight to ensure a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The director leads Public Safety personnel, develops safety programs, emergency response protocols and training initiatives, and collaborates with campus partners and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years in law enforcement, public safety or security, and at least two years in a command or supervisory role.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; crisis response and risk management experience.
• Travel and a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Public Safety personnel and oversee daily campus safety services.
• Develop and evaluate safety programs, emergency protocols, training, and standards.
• Collaborate with campus leadership, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
• This position requires on-site work at the Jersey City location and on-call availability for emergencies.
