Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is seeking a School Resource Officer Patrol/K-9 Handler to provide high-visibility police protection on school property and respond to incidents involving district property, students, and staff.

The role requires POST-certified police status, background checks, and K-9 handler certification. Travel and after-hours events may be required; incumbent must maintain Georgia driver’s license and pass drug tests.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required from GaDOE-approved institution.
• Police academy or training in security procedures and investigation.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsabilités

• Enforces regulations to ensure safety of district property, staff and students.
• Maintains high visibility on campus to safeguard property and people.
• Investigates incidents and writes reports.
• Interviews, arrests, transports, books, and advises suspects of rights.
• Responds to alarms and determines cause of incidents.
• Performs duties to maintain safe operation of school and district.
