Job summary

Transylvania University is seeking a Campus Public Safety Officer to create a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The officer will be trained to meet MCOLES certification requirements and will educate the campus community on safety best practices.

The role includes patrolling, escorts, incident reporting, and responding to emergencies while maintaining campus security systems. Strong communication and integrity are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Must pass background, drug screening, psychological exam, and physical examination.
• Must maintain valid MCOLES certification or meet requirements upon hire.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Establish a campus safety culture and engage with students, staff and visitors.
• Provide campus patrols by foot and vehicle (where applicable).
• Escort students and employees to vehicles/buildings; provide security for dignitaries and guests.
• Investigate safety concerns and file remedial reports; maintain security systems and alarms.
• Provide first aid, CPR and AED as trained; enforce college rules and policies.
