Job summary

Viterbo University is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Part-Time Campus Safety Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our campus community. This role supports the safety of students, employees, visitors, and University property by monitoring campus, responding to safety concerns, and ensuring emergency equipment functions properly.

This is a part-time, hourly position working 20 hours per week, with a regular schedule of Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Must be dependable and service-oriented.
• Prior experience in security is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform foot patrol in campus facilities and on campus grounds for crime prevention and security; protect students, employees, guests and property.
• Respond to and follow up on complaints, disturbances, and requests to prevent dangerous situations on campus.
• Investigate incidents and violations, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and write incident reports.
• Identify hazards to safety and security; report them to the Director of Campus Safety.
• Monitor surveillance system, fire alarm system, and other emergency notification systems.
• Assist in preparing administrative and operational reports and maintaining security files (no contact, no trespassing, protection and restraining orders).
• Act as a liaison to outside emergency services and law enforcement agencies.
• Assist with maintaining security operations in Campus Safety Office and related desks; supervise work-study staff.
• Conduct and document routine inspections of emergency equipment (AEDs, emergency phones, extinguishers).
• Will work holidays and cover vacations as needed.
