Vassar College seeks a part-time Campus Safety Security Officer to patrol and protect campus property, respond to incidents, and support dispatch operations. Primary overnight shifts include weekends, with flexibility for short-term reassignments as needed.
Qualifications include a NYS Security Guard license (or ability to obtain within 30 days), a NY driver license, high school diploma or GED, strong communication, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. CPR/AED and Narcan training preferred.

Schedule: Various days/Various hours, primary assignment will be Saturday, Sunday, and Monday overnight 11pm -7am.
This part time position is responsible for the prevention and detection of any crimes, offenses or violations of college rules, regulations and policies. Officers patrol campus on foot and in a vehicle, detect security hazards, respond to calls for service, prepare reports, operate the campus dispatch center, perform duties relative to traffic and parking. This position interacts with members of the campus and broader community. Applicants should possess critical decision-making skills; be able to respond effectively to emergencies; and diffuse/de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Officers should have excellent communication skills and be a team player (promoting both the mission and vision of the Department and the College). Officers must be capable of and willing to work all shifts and overtime as needed or mandated. All shifts include all hours, days of the week, and holidays. Shifts may be reassigned on a short and long term basis according to departmental needs and contractual guidelines. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of one year probationary period and satisfactory results of a background search. This is a unionized position, represented by the Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) Union.
This position is compensated $22.55 per hour.
