Job summary

Mount Holyoke College seeks a Lieutenant in its Public Safety and Service Department. The role leads operational and watch command during shifts, maintains incident discipline, and ensures policy compliance across patrols, dispatch, and investigations on campus in South Hadley, MA.

The Lieutenant oversees emergency management, budgeting, and field training, while coordinating with local agencies. A Bachelor's degree and active POST certification are required, with SSPO eligibility and MA driver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; must maintain active POST certification.
• Must meet all statutory requirements for SSPO appointment.
• Valid MA Driver's License and active First Responder, CPR/AED, and Suicide Prevention/Mental Health First Aid certifications.
• Successful completion of supervisory probation (6–12 months) on appointment.

Responsibilities

• Exercise operational and watch command authority during tours; monitor field operations and dispatch activity.
• Oversee roll call, directives, sector assignments, and staffing compliance; ensure shift coverage.
• Manage emergency notifications, critical incident response, and large campus events planning.
• Direct dispatch, investigations, and evidence handling; supervise budgeting and overtime controls.
• Review incident reports for accuracy and policy compliance; conduct internal affairs investigations as assigned.
