Job summary

Marine Biological Laboratory is seeking a Security Officer to promote safety and protect students, faculty, employees and visitors. You will patrol, respond to emergencies, and document incidents while coordinating with campus security teams.

The role requires flexibility for 24/7 coverage, de-escalation skills, and operation of monitoring devices. Training and certification are expected during probation and potential career progression.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED; or at least 1 year of industry experience.
• Minimum 1 year of security, law enforcement or military experience.
• Ability to read labels and follow written instructions.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor buildings and grounds to prevent incidents.
• Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, and alert emergency services.
• Maintain logs and incident reports with clear, legible writing.
• De-escalate situations and coordinate with campus security and911 when needed.
• Operate detection and electronic monitoring devices to screen areas and personnel.
