Job summary

Bowdoin College seeks a Security Officer to safeguard students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus. You will patrol on foot, bike, or security vehicle, monitor alarms, and maintain incident records. The role includes ongoing training and opportunities to advance within campus safety.

Entry-level position with comprehensive 5-week initial training and further training at 6 months. Onsite schedule supports a 40-hour week with potential overtime and shift differentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain upon employment)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet College’s Motor Vehicle Use Policy

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily patrols and walkthroughs of campus buildings and grounds, and inspect alarm systems.
• Monitor campus buildings and report hazards or damage.
• Investigate incidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Operate the Campus Security Communications Center and coordinate responses.
• Maintain detailed records of incidents and communications.
