Job summary

Lees-McRae College in North Carolina seeks a full-time Security Officer to maintain a safe campus for students, staff, and visitors. The role involves proactive patrols, responding to calls, basic first aid, and enforcing campus rules with professional conduct.

You will work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends, process incident reports, and assist with crowd control during events. A high school diploma or GED and a valid NC driver’s license are required; CPR/First Aid/AED

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service through proactive interaction with staff, students, guests and visitors.

• Respond to calls for service and monitor police/fire radio channels and emergency lines.
• Provide basic first aid and alert appropriate emergency personnel when needed.
• Lock/unlock buildings at designated times.
• Assist with crowd control at events as required.
• Prepare incident reports, collect evidence and gather statements.
• Manage traffic control and issue parking citations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

This position strives to maintain a safe and secure environment for the students, employees, and visitors of the College through systematic monitoring of the campus grounds and buildings.

Essential Functions

• Provide excellent customer service through proactive interaction with the staff, students, guests, and visitors.
• Patrol campus property on foot and by vehicle to identify hazardous conditions, take corrective measures to reduce or eliminate hazards to persons or college property.
• Respond to calls for service in a timely manner. Monitor police and fire department radio channels and emergency phone lines.
• Respond to emergency situations providing basic first aid, and alerting additional police or emergency personnel, as appropriate.
• Lock and unlock buildings at specified times
• Provide crowd control at special events as required.
• Prepare written reports, collect evidence, and gather victim/witness statements of criminal acts or violations of college policy.
• Perform traffic control duties including issuing parking citations and motorist assistance.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
