Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Part-time, on-call Campus Building Attendant to provide a visible security and safety presence across campus facilities during open hours and events.

The position offers wage from $18.00 per hour, rising to $19.23 on 7/1, with a schedule that varies by department needs. Responsibilities include guiding visitors, monitoring entrances and parking areas, performing fire watch and crowd control as needed, completing daily logs, and reporting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience in institutional or campus settings is desirable.
• Customer service experience is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a visible presence in hub areas, entrances and parking areas.
• Assists visitors with directions and access to campus areas.
• Performs periodic, continuous circulation and ensures appropriate areas are used.
• Prohibits unauthorized access and assists in securing facilities.
• Responds to safety threats and emergencies, coordinating with campus safety.
• Provides fire watch, crowd control, and reports daily logs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
