Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a Facilities Manager for University Recreation (UREC) to oversee maintenance of indoor and outdoor satellite facilities and ensure safe, functional spaces for recreation programs, events, and university engagement. The role reports to the Associate Director of Facilities & Operations.

The position involves weekly inspections, coordination of equipment services, and collaboration with campus departments to support a wide range of activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in facility maintenance.
• Experience in equipment maintenance and repair.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Perform satellite facility maintenance and routine inspections, minor repairs and upkeep of equipment and spaces at various UREC locations.
• Provide equipment support to programs; coordinate shipping/receiving and services for satellite facilities.
• Assist in maintenance planning for long-term projects and budget tracking for satellite facilities.
• Inspect and coordinate housekeeping and maintenance for shared spaces and event areas.
• Reconcile charge-back reports and communicate status of maintenance issues to UREC staff.
• Collaborate with the Equipment Manager on major repairs and oversee student employees during peak times.
• Attend events to ensure facilities readiness and safety; adjust schedules for major events.
