Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer safety, facility and asset cleanliness, effective operations, and a high level of customer service.
  • Assist in maintaining risk management procedures and policies to comply with university policies.
  • Assist with customer questions and concerns.
  • Communicate any issues or complaints to the Campus Rec Student Manager on shift.
  • Keep facilities and equipment clean and organized by stocking supplies and cleaning public spaces.
  • Assist with events and operations during evenings, nights, or weekends.
  • Attend Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Campus Rec full‑time staff to support operations and programming.
  • Work as a team member and support LU’s mission.

Overview

The Campus Rec Student Worker is responsible for performing operational tasks for Campus Recreation programs and facilities, providing excellent customer service, maintaining facility and asset cleanliness, and ensuring all policies and safety measures are followed.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure customer safety, facility and asset cleanliness, effective operations, and a high level of customer service related to Campus Rec programs and facilities.
  • Assist in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies to ensure compliance with university policies.
  • Assist with customer questions and concerns.
  • Effectively communicate any issues or customer complaints to the Campus Rec Student Manager on shift.
  • Ensure clean and organized facilities and equipment through stocking supplies and maintaining clean public spaces.
  • Assist with events and operations during evening, nights, or weekend hours.
  • Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.
  • Perform all other tasks assigned by Campus Rec full‑time staff to assist with Campus Recreation operations and programming.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
  • Position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer service position (preferred).

  • Public communication skills: Represent Liberty University professionally to a variety of customers and associates.

  • Problem Solving: Intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Frequently required to sit or stand in one location for extended periods.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds.
Working Conditions

The working environment consists of two climate‑controlled fitness facility settings, both well lit with moderate noise levels.

Driving Requirements

If required to travel, use of a personal vehicle or LU vehicles may be necessary. Proof of a valid driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required.

Time Type: Part time
Location: Onsite
Pay Rate: Starting at $12.77 (student employees paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour).
