Job summary

Champlain College seeks Campus Public Safety Officers to provide safety and security on campus in Burlington, VT. This full-time, in-person role requires rotating shifts to cover 24/7 operations and a strong customer service mindset.

You will respond to calls, report details, conduct patrols, perform lock-ups, and assist with welfare checks, while coordinating with local law enforcement as needed. Benefits include comprehensive health, retirement, and tuition support.

Qualifications

• Excellent judgment and critical thinking for safety situations.
• Ability to operate under pressure with empathy.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Respond to all calls for assistance, including emergencies and quality of life incidents.
• Report detailed narratives of actions and outcomes promptly.
• Perform campus patrols by foot and vehicle and conduct system checks.
• Lock and unlock campus facilities daily and perform interior/exterior checks.
• Provide welfare checks and safety escorts, coordinating with local law enforcement as needed.
