Job summary

Grand Canyon University Police Department is seeking full-time Police Officers to ensure the safety and security of the GCU campus in Phoenix, AZ. Officers perform general and specialized police work, enforce laws, prevent crime, and provide community services to the university community.

Applicants must have a high school diploma, AZ POST certification, and at least 5 years as a police officer, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Arizona POST Certification (active or inactive).
• Minimum of 5 years as a Police Officer.
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License and insurable.
• Ability to pass physical/psychological exams and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Patrols Grand Canyon University properties by vehicle, foot or bicycle to prevent crime and enforce laws.
• Responds to calls involving thefts, assaults, and other incidents.
• Secures crime scenes, makes arrests, and books suspects.
• Prepares reports documenting information accurately.
• Responds to hazardous materials incidents and traffic accidents; directs traffic.
• Participates in problem-oriented policing and community safety initiatives.
• Transports mentally ill individuals and handles court orders as needed.
